Check out the Jaspr Air Purifier to improve the quality of the air you're breathing in your home or office. I have two of them in my house, and they're fantastic. Use code ‘FROMHERE’ at checkout for an exclusive discount. I recently swapped out my Jaspr air filter after the recommended 6 months. Look at all the gunk it filtred from the air in my home! Yuck!

✈️ Calgary Lands $11M Aviation Training Hub

Calgary is set to soar higher with a brand-new Alberta Training Centre of Excellence at the airport. A nearly $11 million investment backed by Mount Royal University, WestJet, CAE, and OCIF. The facility will bring new jobs, provide trainees with cutting-edge experience, and offer scholarships for local students.

It’s more than just pilot training: the centre will feature full-flight simulators, cabin trainers for cabin crew, and digital tools to open up new career pathways across aviation. For Calgarians, that means more opportunities to break into — and advance within — one of Alberta’s fastest-growing sectors.

🎆 Calgary’s Chinatown Lantern Festival Lights Up The Night

This one-day free event is open to everyone. Attendees should expect exquisite lantern displays lighting up the evening, food trucks & local vendors serving up everything from Asian street eats to sweet treats, and a festive atmosphere perfect for families, friends, or solo adventures.

Bring your camera, maybe a lantern of your own, and soak in the sights and flavours of a neighbourhood that’s buzzing with tradition and warmth. Tickets aren’t required. Just show up and enjoy.

🏞️ DAY TRIP IDEA

🚗 Day-Trip Idea: Barrier Lake & Prairie View Lookout – Mountain Vistas Just an Hour from Calgary

Located in Kananaskis Country, just about an hour west of Calgary, Barrier Lake and the Prairie View Lookout trail deliver some of the most accessible “big mountain” views close to the city. The trail climbs gradually through the forest before opening up to sweeping panoramas over turquoise Barrier Lake, the Bow Valley, and surrounding Rocky Mountain peaks.

This hike is a favorite among Calgarians because it balances effort with reward: challenging enough to feel like an adventure, but short enough to fit comfortably into a day trip. Pack water, snacks, and your camera — the lookout is one of the most photogenic spots within easy reach of the city.

Trip Overview

  • Distance from Calgary: ~1 hour drive (80 km west via Hwy 1 to Hwy 40 south)

  • Trail Length: ~9 km round trip (moderate, with steady incline)

  • Elevation Gain: ~450 m

  • Time Needed: 3–4 hours hiking + time for photos/rest at the lookout

  • Facilities: Parking lot at Barrier Lake, washrooms at trailhead

  • Best Time to Visit: Late spring through fall; mornings are quieter and give great light over the lake
