After a hiatus, the Calgary Volunteer Fair made a successful comeback, featuring 61 non-profit organizations seeking volunteers for various causes, including youth mentorship, domestic violence support, cancer care, and food security. The event provided Calgarians with opportunities to connect with organizations and contribute to meaningful initiatives within the community.​

This resurgence of volunteerism reflects Calgary's dedication to fostering a supportive and engaged community. As the city continues to grow and evolve, events like the Volunteer Fair play a crucial role in connecting residents with causes that matter to them, reinforcing the fabric of Calgary's civic life.

🚆 Calgary to Edmonton... in Under 90 Minutes?

Premier Danielle Smith is reigniting discussions about high-speed rail in Alberta. In her recent Calgary Herald column, she advocates for a modern rail link connecting Calgary, Red Deer, and Edmonton. Smith emphasizes that such a project could enhance regional connectivity, reduce highway congestion, and offer a sustainable transportation alternative.

While acknowledging past challenges, she suggests that with current technological advancements and economic considerations, the time is ripe to revisit this initiative. 🏒 Calgary Canucks Repeat as AJHL Champions

The Calgary Canucks have clinched their second consecutive Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) championship, securing the 2025 Inter Pipeline Cup with a 7–3 victory over the Grande Prairie Storm on April 23. This marks the franchise's 11th league title. Captain Bowden Singleton was named Playoff MVP after tallying six goals and 25 points in 12 playoff games. The Canucks will now represent the AJHL South Division at the 2025 Centennial Cup, hosted in Calgary from May 8–18 at the Max Bell Centre (get tickets).
