🤝 Calgary Volunteer Fair Returns (a.k.a. “Calgarians helping Calgarians”)

After a hiatus, the Calgary Volunteer Fair made a successful comeback, featuring 61 non-profit organizations seeking volunteers for various causes, including youth mentorship, domestic violence support, cancer care, and food security. The event provided Calgarians with opportunities to connect with organizations and contribute to meaningful initiatives within the community.

This resurgence of volunteerism reflects Calgary's dedication to fostering a supportive and engaged community. As the city continues to grow and evolve, events like the Volunteer Fair play a crucial role in connecting residents with causes that matter to them, reinforcing the fabric of Calgary's civic life.

Premier Danielle Smith is reigniting discussions about high-speed rail in Alberta. In her recent Calgary Herald column, she advocates for a modern rail link connecting Calgary, Red Deer, and Edmonton. Smith emphasizes that such a project could enhance regional connectivity, reduce highway congestion, and offer a sustainable transportation alternative.

While acknowledging past challenges, she suggests that with current technological advancements and economic considerations, the time is ripe to revisit this initiative. Smith calls for collaborative efforts between government and private sectors to explore the feasibility of high-speed rail, aiming to position Alberta as a forward-thinking province in transportation infrastructure.
